Let’s Start at the Bottom

So, today has been all about the floor.

First up I took up all the existing plywood flooring to clean out all the accumulated dust, dirt and other rubbish.

Next job was to lay some insulation on the floor, then, as I’m now getting a ‘pop top’ the floor height is not so critical, I relaid the plywood and secured it a bit better.

Then on with another layer of thin insulation and laminate underlay.

Then the job of cutting and fitting the B&Q laminate floor. Once I got that down, secure and looking good it was time to fit the new Caravelle style side step and rear door threshold that I had received for my birthday.

The finished article (apart from a couple of small infill bits)

Two other small mods this week were;

Fitting the extra door seals around the driver’s and passenger’s doors to reduce the road noise and get rid of that horrible metallic bank when shutting the door.

Fitting the dashboard sealing strip where the dash meet the windscreen to plug that gap where anything left on the dash-top seems to end up disappearing.
